Heidi Mottahedin is a Certified Specialist in Family Mediation through Family Dispute Resolution of Ontario (FDRIO)., an Accredited Family Mediator through the Ontario Association for Family Mediation (OAFM) and ADR Institute of Canada, Certified Child Protection Mediator and a Certified Solution-Focused Therapist. She has been mediating family and civil conflict since 1998. Heidi received her mediation training from York University and Harvard Law School. She received extensive training in the field of Solution Focused Brief Therapy from leading North American universities and trained in Narrative Therapy at Hincks-Dellcrest Brief Therapy Training Centres International. She is also certified by and a member of the International Mediation Institute, and a lifetime member of the Family Mediation Canada,

Heidi has successfully mediated over 1,000 cases for couples and families including those related to property division as well as support and parenting plans. She has extensive experience with high conflict cases and considers herself an activist with respect to promoting the best interests of children. Heidi has many years of experience mediating child protection cases and is a member of the Child Protection Mediation Provincial Roster. In addition to her work with families, Heidi has mediated a wide range of civil and business disputes, including a number of complex and high profile cases.

Heidi accepts cases in her private practice, is a roster mediator with a number of organizations including the Ontario Mandatory Mediation Program, Toronto, Ottawa, and Windsor, and supervises intern training. She has long held interest in the future and development of the profession as a whole, and as such has been active in the mediation community including service on various boards and committees.

In connection with her work, she received the University of Toronto’s J.K. Leadership Award for Excellence in Solution Focused Counselling in 2011 and was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Award in 2012 for her outstanding contribution in making justice more accessible in Canada. She is also the recipient of the Canada 150 Award in 2017.
